A reader pointed us to Tracey Taylor’s post from “On The Block” that talked about a new Twitter bot from RealEstate.com that just launched, called Housewatch. This bot “leverages Twitter to instantly deliver statistics and information to home buyers, sellers and agents”. There is data on median home values, neighborhood crime stats, local weather, demographics and mortgage calculations.

San Francisco has its share of extremely expensive and architecturally significant homes, but today, we’re bringing your attention to sunny Los Angeles (all this grey weather is getting to us) to let you know that the famous Frank Lloyd Wright Ennis House is being sold for $15,000,000. You’ve seen this home in movies and magazines, but it’s sadly deteriorating. The Ennis house Foundation, currently in charge of the estate has decided “to place the Ennis House on the market for sale to a private owner. This decision stems primarily from the fact that the house needs more stewardship at this point than a small nonprofit can sustain.” Pass the word along to anybody you may know that wants to own this crumbling masterpiece. Earthquakes and rain seem to be the culprit bringing the concrete blocks down, but we’re certain somebody will come along to create a Hollywood ending to save this damsel in distress.

Back in 2005, hipsters, tech-nerds and anybody that thought they were edgy, but didn’t have enough money for a grown-up house, wanted to live in a cool loft-like space in SoMa. It would be interesting to ask those same cool-kids how they’re feeling about their condos and lofts today. Tracey Taylor of SF Gate explains that ”36% of all [active] condos have seen at least one price reduction and the average cut is 10% off the original asking price.” The article doesn’t get much rosier…
Folks who bought places in 2004 and 2005 are not even getting back the money they paid for their home four to five years ago, says Heather Fernandez, VP of Marketing at Trulia.
