Criminals Lending Money

More than half of Florida’s registered “mortgage professionals” went into business without a license, according to The Miami Herald. WOW.

5,306 people with criminal histories became loan originators. Worse, those include 2,201 who had committed financial crimes, such as fraud, money laundering and grand theft.

Schimple Schtuffed Schquash

By Jack Schtuff:

Summer is in full schwing and your local Farmer’s Market likely has an over-sized zucchini with your name on it…

Slice it long-ways, dig out the seeds, brush with a little olive oil and hit it with sea salt and fresh pepper. Toss ‘er into a 350 degree oven (open-faced) to roast for 30-45 minutes or so, depending on the size.

Once it starts to soften, take it out and let the fun begin. The beauty is that you can schtuff this thing with whatever kind of meats, cheeses, herbs or other veggies that you have on hand. Personally, I like to go with crumbled browned sausage, goat cheese and plenty of chives. Then pop it in the oven for about 10-15 minutes to finish.

This is also the kind of thing that you can prepare in advance, and whip it out last minute to impress your guests with something fresh and different. Get creative, make it colorful and enjoy.

Hidden Gems of the Decorator Showcase House

2820 Scott Street has been talked about on blogs, featured in the SF Chronicle and as of this week, open to the public for purchase, but what we found fun and not all that publicized (keep in mind, our “fun meter” is likely different than the person that can actually afford a $27m home) was the golden pay phone

(why is there a pay phone in this house, golden or not?), the in-room Miele espresso machine with sink and and the outrageously comfortable outdoor kitchen and living room with views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Marin Headlands and more.

Schtuff:
Beds: 7
Baths: 11
Square Feet: 16,000
Price: $27,000,000

Seductively Sold 00

We got in a little bit of trouble last week by SF real estate agents as they didn’t like the fact that we openly and freely shared sales data each week. Additionally, sharing such data is against the San Francisco Associations of Realtors rules. We’d like to apologize to anybody that we offended and moving forward, we’ll be sure not to share “too much” data. We were told that Seductively Sold, one of our most popular posts each week, contained “prohibited” information for the general public. We have been sharing such data over the last 20 weeks because it’s exactly what people wanted to see, it’s exactly how potential buyers and sellers educate themselves and helping to share is exactly what we want(ed) to do. Unfortunately, sharing as much information as we used to is against the rules and instead, you, the reader (or the market tracker) must create a “relationship” with me if you want to see all of the sold data. I’m assuming that “protecting” such highly sensitive data (we’re not talking nuclear launch codes here people), helps keep jobs and power in place. If the general public has easy access to sold data, then they may actually ask Realtors the tough questions when it comes time to interviewing before hiring one.

What it boils down to now, is that we can show you any and all data, but we have to email each other and I have to make sure you’re not already working with an agent. If you would like to see the sold information from last week (or any week for that matter), just ask. In the meantime, below you will find all of the sold condo’s and lofts from last week, but without the ever so precious sold price.

Thanks for all the kind words and support that we’ve received from our Seductively Sold posts, we hope that you have enjoyed the data while it lasted.

339 Crescent Ave

Schtuff:

  • Address: 339 Crescent Ave
  • Price: $474,000
  • Beds: 2
  • Baths: 2
  • Comments: Bernal Heights Beauty/ Contractor’s special. Located on a level 25×100 RH-2 lot. This is a fixer not for the faint of heart. Needs extensive renovation with plenty of deferred maintenance. Are those windows in front? How about that landscaping?

Rewind, Reflect, Regroup

It’s been a long week for us over at SF Schtuff as we’ve received a few complaints from real estate agents about the data that we’ve been posting over the last 20 weeks. We were rattled by the calls and thus slowed down with our posts a bit this week so that we could come up with a plan to move forward. Fear not friends, we’ll be back again next week, unfortunately without one of your favorite posts (stay tuned, we’ll explain more later). In the meantime, we’re going to act like an ’80s sitcom and have one of those montage, reflection episodes. Reminisce about old times with some of our most popular posts as measured by your visits:
