If there is one segment of the San Francisco housing market that has changed or softened in the ‘08, its gotta be the loft market. In years past, developers couldn’t build them fast enough and edgy buyers were pit against each other as they tried to snatch up the hippest, coolest, biggest box they could find and they were willing to pay top dollar for them. Things have changed as lofts sit on the market for longer periods of time (average days on market is 58 so far this year) and there have been fewer transactions (compared to this time last year). There are always exceptions to the rules and 75 Lansing #3 is a perfect example. Personally, one of my favorite lofts in the city, this unit was purchased in April 2006 for $2.8mm. I’m not aware of any major upgrades since the last sale, but the loft changed hands again last week for $3.5mm

By Farrah:
Oakland is known for a lot of things – the hyphy craze, insane Raiders fans and hot weather. Well, there are a lot of things about Oakland that aren’t widely known. I’ve lived in Oakland for years but I just learned that there are herds of goats grazing in the Oakland Hills.
Several months ago, I was turning onto Park Street not far from Montclair and I saw goats off in the distance. I was in the middle of a huge city and here are some goats complete with a little herder guy chillin’ in the grass nearby. I felt like Doogie Houser in Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay when he sees the unicorn over a police officer’s shoulder. But, I was completely sober and coming from a morning meeting.
I did some poking around on the internet and learned that these goats are a part of an effort to decrease excess vegetation and reduce the chances of fire. They are owned by EcoSystem Concepts, a company that provides environmentally friendly solutions for removing vegetation. Nice!

Sunset Party-June 22nd, McLaren Park
What more could you ask for? Music in the park, dancing under the sun, chilling on a blanket sipping on Coronas with friends, and MAJOR people watching. PacificSound puts on Sunset parties throughout the summer for house-heads or anyone who wants to enjoy some funky beats and hang out with friends. It’s a reason to get outside, no matter how hung-over you are from your weekend; and once you get there-you can’t help but get on the dance floor and shake a little booty when the beat drops.
The event on Sunday had a great turn out and featured a wide variety of sun lovers and house music followers. It was fun to look around and see smiles on the faces of the dancing crowd. Although the wind picked up later in the day (San Francisco style wind-the kind that bites your face); party-goers layered up and kept the dance party going.
