This is one of the easiest snacks - sure to be a holiday favorite. This is also a great gift idea for your foody friends and family.
You’ll need:
1 cup unsalted walnuts
1 cup unsalted pecans
1 cup unsalted cashews
1 cup unsalted almonds
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
8 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon water
2 teaspoon salt
Mix the spices in a small bowl and set aside. Put foil on a baking sheet with and set aside.
Get a large skillet, cook nuts over medium heat, stirring frequently, until they begin to toast, about 4-6 minutes. Add the butter and continue stirring until the nuts begin to darken, about 1-2 minutes. Add the spices, the sugar, water, and the salt and cook, stir until the sauce thickens and the nuts are glazed, about 5-6 minutes.
Spread the nut mix out over the baking sheet. Let the nuts sit until cooled and the sugar has hardened, about 8-10 minutes.
Serve warm or at room temperature. It’s best if nuts are stored in an airtight container, as they tend to soften after the first week.
Enjoy!
